Hi! I’m LyDiA,
(yes, that's a pen name)
I am a 25-year-old young woman who has recently, for the lack of a better term, self-diagnosed as autistic. ["Diagnosis" is such a medical term that I would prefer to stay away from it and think of it more as (re)connecting with my truest self.]
I began my blog "Proud to be Weird" to thought-spill and share my experience with this journey in hopes to help other late-diagnosed autistics and especially autistic women/girls. Generally speaking, most "official" autistic things gear towards children and (white) males, so autistic females are often overlooked. As more autistic women find themselves and come forward about their experiences, I find that I can both relate to some things and don't relate at all to others (of course, autism is a spectrum), so I hope to find others who can relate to my experiences/be a space for others to feel they belong.
Why LyDiA? Well, Late-Diagnosed Autistic, and I wanted something more feminine to reflect my above goals. I feel, for some reason, that anonymity enables me to be completely open about everything, which is more beneficial for me, those who I want to connect with, and my goals.
