Blog Post #5

Although I'm not sure if it's exactly related to my autism, I thought I'd share the details behind the name of my blog, thus

A list:

  1. I enjoy what I enjoy to the fullest and solely because it is awesome, not because other people like it. I'm not worried about standing out because of my interests.

    1. Have you looked at dinosaurs? Stood tiny-ly beside their massive skeletons? They're awesome.

    2. ["It was his hat, Mr. Krabs! He was ^^^]

  2. I believe that, because of #1, I am generally happier than the average person.

    1. perhaps, also, this has to do with my outlook on life:  I consider myself a realist, but I do always look for, and find, positives in most situations.

      1. however, in my experience, people who cannot embrace their truest interests are usually pessimistic. So I think these things go hand-in-hand.

  3. I have true, authentic friendships. People who accept me for who I am.

  4. On the other hand, this does set me up for bullying. HOWEVER, I just look at it as people who I don't want to hang around outing themselves. This way I know not to bother time & energy with them.

  5. I like countering people's assumptions, teaching them to open their mind a little bit. Just because I am a weirdo and I like rock music doesn't mean I am mean/evil.

  6. I like to laugh, and I like to make people laugh and smile. Sometimes the best way to do this is to be a goof (what some may call a weirdo).

  7. Admittedly, I also like to make "normies" uncomfortable and push against stupid rules. I will burp and rate it out of 10, and secretly grin at the person who looks in horror and clutches their pearls because I didn't say "excuse me" (why do we excuse a biologically normal function?).

  8. Because of #5 and #7, and likely my autism (or are 5 & 7 a trait of my autism?), this makes it significantly easier for me to stand up for what is right. To speak up for others.

  9. In a similar manner to #1, 5, and 7, I have no problems with holding values and ideas that are different from most people. I do not have to hide from my authentic self.

    1. for example, I don't believe in any of the religions, and I don't think I really believe in any spiritualities either. But that's not to definitively say they don't exist either. I imagine if there is some kind of afterlife, a Being truly only cares about how kind and caring the person was. Not what they believed in.

    2. Ultimately, I believe that if there is such thing as a soul, that it is involved in a cycle just like everything else in nature. Once a living thing has passed, and the soul has left the body, the cycle repeats, and the soul refreshes and enters into the body of a new living thing. Energy is neither created or destroyed.

  10. This also makes me a really good protestor. (fun fact: I managed to not get covid for the first two years then got it from protesting for my rights as a woman *eye roll, haha)

  11. But this ALSO makes me a really good listener!

    1. I've been shut down and ignored before people would even listen to me just because I am different, so I'm happy to lend an ear to someone who has a different viewpoint.

    2. I also consider it learning, and I love to learn!

And a meme:

Are you proud to be weird or different? I'd love to know why! :)
